Our Developmental Disabilities Services
Key Benefits

At Connecting Ties, Inc., we can offer numerous support services which will enable people who experience disabilities to live as independently as possible within the community setting of their choice.

Our family support programs offer services designed around the needs of each individual and their family.

Residential services offer support to enable people to live in the community setting of their own choice.


These services are available through the Division of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (DMHDD) and include but are not limited to:


  1. Core Services —
    A funding mechanism to offer individuals waiting for full services a basic package of services to forestall a crisis situation and address quality of life needs.

  2. Care Coordination —
    A person or team works with consumer and their families to develop an appropriate service plan to assure and monitor access to services and advocate for the individual and their family.

  3. Adult Foster Care —
    For full time care provided in a family setting but does not require the natural family to give up parental rights or guardianship.

  4. Respite —
    Allows the primary caretaker some relief while also giving the individual time to socialize with other people in or outside the residence.

  5. Day Habilitation —
    Training to improve or retain social and adaptive skills that take place in the community separate from the residential setting. Usually 4 or more hours per day 1 or more days per week.

  6. Individual Residential Habilitation —
    To include training received during normal daily routines that is designed to enhance the abilities competencies and functional life skill of the participant.

  7. Supported Employment Habilitation & Vocational Options —
    Program offers job sampling, assessments, job placements, follow along support and paid employment for persons who because of their disability need intensive on going supervision and or training to perform in a work setting.

  8. TEFRA (Tax Equity & Fiscal Responsibility Act) —
    Is a Medicaid program for children under 19 years of age meeting specific medical & disability criteria. Under TEFRA parents resources & income are not counted, which if counted may disqualify the child for some programs. TEFRA will provide Medicaid coverage for the qualifying child only.
